Art Influence in a Surpising way

I recently posted a picture of  Jackson Pollock's "1943 Mural" and noticed something that I was not aware of. Now Pollock is a favorite of mine, and well not versed as much on earlier pieces.
One evening I was watching Ed Harris's Film " Pollock" and the scene where he is painting a commission piece for Peggy Guggenheim I was like, " My Painting Dwin Deablo has features of this.

One thing about my art, I am upfront and honest and never realized the similarities from years back. And to go a step further, "1943 Mural" is in Iowa City all the time. Wanted to share this picture. Naturally my work has qualities of  that work.

Fine Art America has been a website that I have utilized the past 3 years to work on getting exposure of my artwork. Their website: www.fineartamerica.com  helped with getting the word out there.

CityScapes

I am drawn to cityscapes. With my style I don't have the time or patients to attempt realism. So I stick with loose flowing ideas within my work. My very first cityscape I did which is pictured below "Urbancongestion" got the ball rolling with me. Doing an abstract expressive form with the subject you make up a scene something that does not exist. And then working with actual buildings like the second piece "Improv-Des Moines" you see some of my influences of color. This makes for lot's of fun to explore ideas and work on Composition especially with the free-formed abstracted cityscapes.

Portrait Work -Conveying The Message

I have always admired people who can do realism. There are some artist's in Des Moines that take it to a level of "How the Heck did they do that?" My Portrait work really draws from my favorite artist -Van Gogh.

That is a loose way to explain it, but it is with the use of color. Like with many artists color is the driving force, and with the portraits since I am not able to do realism I will use my colors and line work to convey the message. And if color is not being used then my line work helps with the meaning behind that particular piece.

Ink Drawings

For sometime now I have been doing a series of drawings that show my expressive line work with subject's that are on the lines of abstract. It is fun to just let go and by doing so, it helps with the creative process in other areas.
